El maravilloso Delta en Tigre

Key Facts
Meet the Mighty Tigre!
The Tigre River is like a super long, watery highway in Peru! It's so long, it's like traveling from your house all the way to your friend's house and back, many, many times! This river is a special helper to an even bigger river called the Marañón River.
It's like a smaller stream joining a giant river to make it even more powerful. The Tigre River is also special because it flows completely on flat land, not in bumpy mountains.
A River's Big Journey!
This river starts its adventure in a country called Ecuador, where two smaller rivers, the Conambo and Pintoyacu, hug each other and become the Tigre. Then, it crosses the border into Peru. From where it meets the big Marañón River, you can travel on the Tigre for a super long way, about 201 kilometers! That's longer than 200 school buses lined up end to end! It's a very important path for boats.
What's in a Name?
Did you know that 'Tigre' means 'tiger' in Spanish? That's because the people who live near this river sometimes call the big, striped cat, the jaguar, a 'tigre'! So, the river is named after a super cool and powerful animal. Jaguars are amazing hunters and are very important to the jungle. Even though the river is named after a tiger, it's a peaceful place where water flows gently.
