Meet Tiangong-1, Your Space House!

Tiangong-1 was like a small apartment in space, built by China. It was China's very first space station! It floated around our planet Earth for many years, from 2011 to 2018. Think of it as a special room in the sky where scientists could do experiments and practice living far from home. It was about the size of a big school bus, but much longer and thinner!

A Trip to the Heavenly Palace!

The name 'Tiangong-1' means 'Heavenly Palace 1' in Chinese. It was launched into space on a giant rocket. For a while, it was like a hotel for astronauts! Spaceships called Shenzhou would visit and dock, or connect, with Tiangong-1. Some of these trips even had the first women astronauts from China on board, which was super exciting!

What Did Tiangong-1 Do?

Tiangong-1 had a very important job. It helped China learn how to build and use space stations. It was a test to see if they could connect spaceships in orbit, like parking cars in space! This was a big step for China's space adventures. It helped them get ready to build even bigger space stations later on.

Saying Goodbye to Our Space Friend

After a few years, Tiangong-1's job was done. It was supposed to come back to Earth sooner, but it stayed up in space for longer than planned! In 2018, it started to fall back down. Most of it burned up like a shooting star when it hit Earth's air, making a spectacular show in the sky!
