Meet Oyasama, the Special Teacher!

Imagine a very special lady named Nakayama Miki, who her followers call 'Oyasama'. About 150 years ago in Japan, people believed she was chosen to share important messages from God. These messages are all about living a happy and kind life.

Tenrikyo is like a special club or a way of thinking that started because of her teachings. It’s not quite like a single god or like everything being god, but something in between, focusing on a connection with a higher power.

Where Did This Joyful Idea Come From?

Tenrikyo began in Japan a long, long time ago, in the 1800s. It all started with Oyasama sharing her divine messages. Her teachings grew, and people started gathering to learn and practice them together.

Now, there’s a big, beautiful place called Tenrikyo Church Headquarters where many followers go. It’s like the main school for learning about Tenrikyo, and it helps lots of smaller churches all around Japan and even in other countries!

The Secret to a "Joyous Life"!

What’s the most important thing in Tenrikyo? It’s called the 'Joyous Life'! This means living every day with happiness and thankfulness.

How do you do that? By being super kind to everyone and doing good deeds, like helping your friends or cleaning up the playground. This is called 'hinokishin'.

It’s like sharing your sunshine with the world! When you do these things, you help make the world a happier place for everyone.

Sharing the Happiness Around the World!

Tenrikyo is like a big family that’s growing! In Japan, there are over 1.7 million people who follow these teachings. And all around the world, there are even more, making it over 2 million people! They have many churches, and they even build special places called 'oyasato-yakata' to help their communities. It’s all about spreading that 'Joyous Life' feeling far and wide.
