Tarrare: The Boy Who Ate Everything!

Once upon a time, in France, there was a boy named Tarrare. He wasn't just hungry, he was SUPER hungry! He could eat so much food that his parents couldn't feed him. He ate things like stones and live animals! It was like he had a bottomless tummy. He even ate a whole basket of apples at once! Wow!

When Tarrare grew up, he joined the army. Even with lots of food, he was always starving! He would eat garbage from the streets to fill his tummy. Doctors tried to help him, but nothing worked. They even let him eat food for 15 people, and he ate it all! He ate cats, snakes, and even puppies!

The army leaders had a funny idea. They thought Tarrare could swallow secret messages and carry them through enemy lines. He would then… well, he would get the message back later. But the enemy caught him! They were so confused by him, they just sent him back. It was a very strange plan!

After his army adventure, Tarrare was still always hungry. He tried to eat anything he could find, even things from the hospital! People worried he ate a baby, so he had to leave. He disappeared for a while and then came back very sick. He died not long after, but his story of eating so much is still remembered!
