Tiny Bear, Big Adventure!

Imagine a bear that's not much bigger than a big dog! That's the sun bear! It's the smallest bear in the whole world. It has short, black fur and a special orange or cream-colored patch on its chest that looks like a sun rising. This little bear lives in the warm, green forests of Southeast Asia, where it loves to climb trees.

Climbing Champ of the Trees!

Sun bears are amazing climbers! Their paws are turned a little bit inward, and they have super strong claws that help them grip tree branches. They can even sleep and sunbathe high up in the trees, sometimes as high as a two-story house! They are the most 'tree-loving' bears of all.

A Sweet Tooth for Honey!

What do sun bears love to eat? Lots of yummy things! They slurp up ants and termites with their long tongues, and they especially love honey from beehives. They also munch on fruits and seeds. Sometimes they even eat small birds or deer. They are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals!

Sun Bears Need Our Help!

Sadly, there aren't as many sun bears as there used to be. Their forest homes are disappearing because people are cutting down trees. Sometimes, people hunt them or their homes get too close to farms. We need to protect these special bears so they can keep climbing trees and eating honey for a long, long time!
