Formed in 1998 by manager Ron Tom, the Sugababes emerged as a fresh voice in the British music landscape. The original trio, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy, brought a distinct R&B-infused pop sound that set them apart. Their debut album, 'One Touch' (2000), released under London Records, garnered critical acclaim and moderate commercial success, spawning the top-ten single 'Overload.' In 2009, Keisha Buchanan, the sole remaining original member, was replaced by Jade Ewen. This transition led to the release of 'Sweet 7' (2010) and a subsequent signing with RCA Records. Following this album, the Sugababes embarked on an indefinite hiatus in 2011.

However, the narrative took a significant turn when the original lineup – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy – reunited in 2013 under the moniker Mutya Keisha Siobhán, releasing the single 'Flatline.' The legal and public reclamation of the Sugababes name in 2019 was a landmark moment, allowing the original members to re-engage with their legacy and fanbase. This reunion culminated in the 20th-anniversary rerelease of 'One Touch' in 2021 and the subsequent release of 'The Lost Tapes' in 2022, showcasing previously unheard material.

The Sugababes' career is marked by an impressive six UK number-one singles, a testament to their enduring appeal and ability to connect with audiences. Their five UK top-ten albums, four of which achieved platinum certification, underscore their consistent commercial success. Beyond sales figures, their nomination for six Brit Awards, including a win for Best British Dance Act in 2003, highlights their critical recognition.
