Key Facts
Meet the Kitchen Helper!
A stove is like a super-powered kitchen helper that makes our food yummy and warm. It has a flat top with burners, like little circles that get hot, and usually a big oven box underneath. You can boil water for pasta, fry eggs, or bake cookies inside. Stoves are usually as tall as a grown-up and as wide as a small table. They are found in almost every kitchen, ready to help make delicious meals!
From Campfires to Kitchens!
Long, long ago, people cooked food over open campfires. It was tricky to control the heat! Then, people invented special fireplaces and stoves made of brick or metal.
These were much better because they kept the heat in and made cooking safer. Early stoves were big and clunky, but they were a huge step forward. Now, stoves are sleek and modern, but they still do the same important job of cooking our food.
Why Stoves Are Awesome!
Stoves are super important because they help us cook all sorts of tasty food. Without them, we'd be eating a lot more raw carrots and cold sandwiches! They let us bake cakes for birthdays, roast chicken for dinner, and even just heat up leftovers. Cooking food makes it easier to eat and can kill germs, keeping us healthy. Stoves are truly kitchen superheroes!
How Stoves Get Hot!
There are two main ways stoves get hot. Some stoves use gas, which is like a special invisible fuel that comes through pipes. When you turn on a gas burner, a little flame lights up! Other stoves use electricity. They have metal coils or smooth glass tops that heat up when electricity flows through them. The oven part usually has heating elements at the top and bottom to bake your food evenly.
