The Day the Big Castle Fell!

Once upon a time, in a big city called Paris, there was a very old and strong building called the Bastille. It was like a giant, scary castle that people were afraid of. On a super important day, July 14, 1789, lots of people decided they had enough of this scary building. They marched to the Bastille, ready to take it over!

Why Were They So Mad?

The Bastille wasn't just any old building; it was a place where the king could lock people up without a good reason. It was a symbol of the king having too much power, like a playground bully who always gets their way. The people wanted fairness, and the Bastille represented unfairness. They wanted to show the king that they were strong together!

A Big Fight for Freedom!

It wasn't an easy day! There was a big fight that lasted for four hours. Imagine a really long game of tag, but much more serious! Sadly, many people got hurt. But the brave people kept trying, and finally, they got inside the Bastille. They freed the few people who were locked up inside and took control of the building.

A Day We Still Remember!

This amazing event was so important that people in France still celebrate it every year on July 14th! It's called Bastille Day, and it's like their biggest birthday party for freedom. It reminds everyone that when people work together, they can make big changes and stand up for what's right. It was the start of a whole new chapter for France!
