Steam Wagon

Have you ever seen a big truck? A steam wagon was like the great-grandparent of today's trucks! It was a special kind of vehicle that used steam, just like a choo-choo train, to move heavy things. These amazing machines were the first trucks ever made for carrying lots of stuff for businesses. They were super important for moving goods around before cars and modern trucks were invented.

Most of these powerful steam wagons were built in a country called Great Britain. They were a pretty big deal there for a long time, especially at the start of the 1900s. Think of them as the first big haulers on the road! They helped move all sorts of things, from farm goods to building materials, making businesses run much smoother.

Steam wagons were like the workhorses of their time! They could pull really heavy loads, much more than horses could. This meant businesses could move more things faster and farther. They were the first real trucks, helping to build roads and towns. Without them, getting big things from one place to another would have been much, much harder!

These wagons had a big boiler, like the one in a steam train, that heated water to make steam. This steam then pushed parts of the engine to make the wheels turn. It was a bit like a giant kettle powering a truck! There were two main types: 'overtype' where the engine sat on top of the boiler, and 'undertype' where it was underneath. Both were strong and mighty!
