Meet the SAARC Superstars!

SAARC is like a special club for eight countries in a part of the world called South Asia. These countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Think of it like a group of friends who decide to work together to make things better for everyone.

They share ideas and help each other with big projects. It's a way for these countries to be stronger together than they are alone.

When Did This Awesome Club Start?

This club, SAARC, officially began on December 8, 1985. It was like a big party where leaders from these countries met to sign a special agreement. They decided to create this organization to help their region. The main office, called the secretariat, is in a beautiful country called Nepal, high up in the mountains. It’s where they plan all their important work.

Why SAARC is a Big Deal!

SAARC is super important because it covers a lot of people and land! It's like having 3 out of every 100 playgrounds in the world, but with more than 2 out of every 10 people on Earth living there! When these countries work together, they can build more schools, help farmers grow more food, and make it easier for people to travel and trade. It helps everyone in the region have a better life.

What Do They Actually Do?

One of the coolest things SAARC does is try to make it easier for countries to trade with each other. Imagine if you could easily share your toys with friends in other neighborhoods without a lot of fuss! SAARC started something called the South Asian Free Trade Area to do just that for businesses.

They also talk to other big groups, like the European Union, to share ideas and work on global problems together.
