Sodom and Gomorrah

Long, long ago, there were two cities called Sodom and Gomorrah. They were like neighbors, but they had a big problem. The stories say they were very, very wicked. So wicked, in fact, that a powerful being decided they needed to be completely gone. It's like they were erased from a drawing! This is a very old story, told in important books that many people read.

The stories don't tell us exactly what they did, but they say the people were mean and unkind. They weren't good hosts to visitors and might have been very selfish. Imagine if someone never shared their toys or always pushed others on the playground. The stories say their bad behavior was so big, it made a powerful being very angry. It's a reminder that being kind and fair is super important.

Because of their wickedness, a very powerful force decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. It was like a giant cleanup! The story says fire and brimstone, which is like a stinky, burning rock, rained down from the sky. Everything was destroyed. Only a few people, like a man named Lot and his daughters, were saved. But Lot's wife looked back and turned into a statue made of salt! Wow!

Why do we still talk about Sodom and Gomorrah? Because their story is a warning. It teaches us that being mean, unfair, or unkind can have very bad consequences. It reminds us to be good to others, to share, and to always try our best to be good people. Even though the cities are gone, the lesson from their story is still important for everyone.
