Shanxi

Imagine a big, beautiful place in China called Shanxi. It's like a giant puzzle piece in the northern part of the country. Shanxi means 'west of the mountains' because it sits right next to the tall Taihang Mountains.

It has neighbors like Hebei, Henan, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia. The land here is mostly a big, flat area called a plateau, with mountains around it. It's a place with lots to explore!

Shanxi is super special because it has more old buildings than almost anywhere else in China! Most people in Shanxi are called Han Chinese. They speak a language called Jin Chinese, which is a bit different from Mandarin, but many people speak both! Life in Shanxi is interesting. They have a big city called Taiyuan, which is the capital. It's a busy place where lots of people live and work. Shanxi is also known for having a lot of coal, which is used to make electricity.

Did you know Shanxi is like a treasure chest for China? It holds about one-third of all the coal in the whole country! That's a LOT of coal. It's also home to a special place called the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, where they send rockets up to space! So, Shanxi is a place that's both ancient and super modern, with lots of secrets waiting to be discovered.
