Serge Koussevitzky

Serge Koussevitzky was a super important person in the world of music! He was born a long, long time ago in a country called Russia. He was a conductor, which means he was like the captain of a big music ship called an orchestra. He also played a giant instrument called a double-bass, which is as tall as a grown-up! He led many concerts and helped musicians play their very best.

Serge started his music journey in Russia. He was so good that he traveled all the way across the ocean to America! For many, many years, from 1924 to 1949, he was the main music director for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. That's longer than most kids are in elementary school! He made the orchestra sound so wonderful that people came from everywhere to listen.
