Santorio Santorio

Imagine a doctor from a long, long time ago, born in Italy in 1561! His real name was Santorio Santori, but people called him Sanctorius of Padua. He was super curious about how our bodies worked, like a detective trying to solve a mystery.

It taught them to be more like scientists and less like guessers. He is called the 'father of experimental physiology' because he was one of the first to do real experiments on living bodies!

Santorio invented some really neat things. One was a thermometer to measure temperature, like the ones we use today to see if we have a fever. He also invented a pulsilogium, which was an early way to measure how fast someone's heart was beating. These inventions helped doctors see and understand things they couldn't before.
