Where the Andes Mountains Say Hello!
Santiago is a super cool city in the country of Chile, all the way in South America! It's like a big hug from two amazing mountain ranges: the Andes Mountains on one side and the Chilean Coast Range on the other. These mountains are so tall, they look like giants watching over the city.
The weather here is like a perfect summer day, sunny and warm, but sometimes it gets a little chilly in the winter. It's a place where you can see snowy peaks and feel the warm sun all in the same day!
A City Built by Explorers!
A long, long time ago, in 1541, a brave explorer named Pedro de Valdivia decided Santiago would be a great place to build a city. He chose this spot because it had fresh water from the Mapocho River, which is like the city's lifeline. Over many years, more and more people came to live here, and the city grew bigger and bigger, like a snowball rolling down a hill.
It became the most important city in Chile, full of busy streets and tall buildings.
Fun, Food, and Fiesta!
