Imagine a singer whose voice was so amazing, it was like a super-powered trumpet! That was Rubby Pérez. He was a famous singer from the Dominican Republic, a beautiful island country.

Rubby loved to sing merengue, a super fun and bouncy style of music that makes everyone want to dance. He became a big star because his voice was so special and strong, reaching notes that most singers can't even dream of!

Rubby didn't start out as a solo star. He sang with different music groups until a famous bandleader named Wilfrido Vargas heard him. Wilfrido thought Rubby's voice was incredible and asked him to sing with his band.

Together, they made an album called 'El Funcionario' in 1983. This album was so popular it was even listed as one of the top 600 albums in all of Latin America! That's like being one of the best toys in the whole toy store!

Because Rubby's voice could go so high and sound so clear, people gave him a special nickname: 'la voz más alta del merengue.' That means 'the highest voice of merengue' in Spanish! Think of it like a bird singing a super high note that only a few can hear. His voice was so unique that it made him stand out and become a legend in merengue music. It’s a sound that people would remember forever.

Sadly, Rubby Pérez's amazing singing career came to an end too soon. On April 8, 2025, there was a terrible accident at a nightclub called Jet Set. The roof of the nightclub collapsed, and Rubby was there when it happened. It was a very sad day for everyone who loved his music and for the Dominican Republic. Even though he is gone, his wonderful songs will always make us want to dance.
