Roy Cooper

He helped make important choices about schools, hospitals, and keeping everyone safe. He was born a long time ago, on June 13, 1957, and grew up in a part of North Carolina called Eastern North Carolina. He loved learning and went to a big university called UNC Chapel Hill!

Before becoming Governor, Roy Cooper had other super cool jobs! He was a lawyer, which means he helped people with tricky problems. Then, he became the Attorney General for North Carolina.

That's like being the top lawyer for the whole state, making sure laws were followed. He did this job for a really, really long time – almost 16 years! That's longer than you've been in school!
