Imagine a super-fast runner and a fantastic baseball player all rolled into one! That was Roberto Clemente. He was born in a beautiful place called Puerto Rico. Roberto loved baseball so much that he became one of the best players ever. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 18 whole years, hitting the ball like a champion!

Roberto was an All-Star player 13 times! That's like getting picked for the best team in school almost every single year. He won awards for hitting the ball super far and for catching it like a superhero. He even helped his team win the World Series twice! He was so good, people called him 'The Great One'.

More Than Just a Game!

But Roberto wasn't just amazing at baseball. He had a huge heart! When there was a big earthquake in Nicaragua, Roberto wanted to help. He jumped on a plane filled with food and medicine to bring to people who needed it. Sadly, the plane crashed, and he was lost. He was only 38 years old.

A Legacy That Shines Bright!

Because Roberto was so kind and brave, people wanted to remember him. Baseball even changed its rules so he could be put into a special Hall of Fame right away. Now, there's an award named after him that goes to players who are good at baseball AND good to others. He showed everyone that being a good person is just as important as being a great player.
