Record press

A record press is like a super strong hug for making vinyl records. It's a big machine that uses a special kind of power called hydraulics to press hot plastic into the shape of a record. Inside, there are metal plates with tiny grooves that will become the music you hear. It's like a giant cookie cutter for sound!

First, a warm, soft circle of plastic, like a pancake, is placed inside the machine. Then, two metal plates, called stampers, are brought down. These stampers have the music carved into them backward! The press squeezes them together with a force as strong as 150 grown-ups pushing at once! This makes the hot plastic fill all the tiny grooves, creating the record.

The record press is a powerful machine. It can press down with about 150 tons of force. That's like having 150 elephants standing on top of it! This incredible pressure is what makes the hot plastic perfectly copy the grooves on the metal stampers. It's how the music gets from the metal plate to the vinyl disc you play.
