Welcome to a Giant Playground for Animals!

Imagine a park so big it's like a whole neighborhood just for animals! Ragunan Zoo is like that, covering a huge 140 hectares. That's bigger than many school playgrounds put together!

It's a super green place where animals have lots of room to roam. You can see amazing creatures like orangutans, tigers, and even big, grumpy gorillas. There's also a special place just for birds called an aviary, where you can see colorful feathers everywhere!

A Zoo with a Long, Long Story!

Ragunan Zoo is super old, like your great-great-great-grandparents old! It first opened its doors way back in 1864. That means it's been around for more than 160 years, making it the oldest zoo in all of Indonesia.

It started in a different spot and then moved to where it is today. Think of all the animals and people who have visited over all those years – it's like a living history book of animals!

Home to Rare and Wonderful Creatures!

This zoo is a special home for animals that are hard to find anywhere else. Many of them are endangered, which means there aren't many left in the wild. Ragunan Zoo helps protect them.

You can see animals like the anoa, which is like a tiny buffalo, or the tapir, which has a funny long nose. There are also Sumatran tigers with their beautiful stripes and babirusas, which are pigs with tusks that stick out!

Your Adventure to See Amazing Animals!

Getting to Ragunan Zoo is easy peasy! It's located in South Jakarta and you can get there by car or by taking a special green bus called Transjakarta. Once you're inside, you'll see so many different animals, with over 2,288 of them living there! It’s a fantastic place to learn about animals from Indonesia and around the world, and to see why it’s so important to keep them safe.
