Pursuit to Haritan
Key Facts
The Great Chase Begins!
Once upon a time, during a big war called World War I, there was a super exciting chase called the Pursuit to Haritan. It happened a long, long time ago, between September and October. Brave soldiers from a group called the Egyptian Expeditionary Force were chasing after another army that was running away.
They traveled north from a city called Damascus, which they had just captured. This chase was like a game of tag, but with real soldiers and horses!
Riding Fast Like the Wind!
The soldiers had special groups called the XXI Corps and the Desert Mounted Corps. They used fast horses and even some early cars called armoured cars to go after the enemy. They rode from cities like Haifa and Acre all the way to places like Beirut and Tripoli, which are by the big blue sea.
Then, they kept going inland, chasing the enemy through towns and villages, trying to catch them before they could hide too well.
WOW! Horses vs. Cars!
One of the most amazing parts was when the soldiers on horses had to chase the enemy. Sometimes, they even had to charge at them, which is like running really fast towards them! They also had help from a special group called the Sherifial Force, who were like their friends on the chase.
They even captured a big city called Aleppo! It was a race against time to get to the next place before the other army could escape.
The End of the Big Game
The chase went on for many days, with soldiers covering lots of ground. They captured towns and kept pushing forward. Finally, the war started to end, and the soldiers heard the news that the fighting was over.
The Pursuit to Haritan was a very important part of the war because it helped the winning side gain control of many places and showed how brave and fast the soldiers could be, even when they were tired.
