Politics of Beijing

Some leaders of Beijing have been SO important, they were part of the country's top decision-making group, called the Politburo. It's like being on the most important team in the whole school! One leader, Peng Zhen, was even the very first Beijing Party Secretary.

Another leader, Liu Qi, was in charge of the amazing Beijing Olympics, where athletes from all over the world came to compete. He even got to speak at the opening and closing ceremonies!

The leaders in Beijing have a very important job. They have to make sure the city is a great place to live and that it represents China well to the rest of the world. They plan big celebrations, like when China turned 50 or 60 years old, and make sure everything runs smoothly.
