A Prisoner in His Own Palace!

At one point, Italy was trying to become one big country, and they took over Rome. The Pope didn't want to leave his home, the Vatican City, so he said he was a 'prisoner in the Vatican'! He stayed there, even though he was still the Pope, and people sent him money called Peter's Pence to help him out.
