Pig (dice game)

Pig is a super fun game you can play with just one die and some friends! Imagine you have a special score. You roll the die, and whatever number you get, you add it to your score. You can keep rolling to get more points, but be careful! If you roll a '1', all the points you earned in that turn disappear, and it's the next player's turn. It’s like a game of chance where you decide when to stop!

This game is older than your grandparents! The first time someone wrote down the rules for Pig was way back in 1945 by a person named John Scarne. But games like this, where you roll dice and take chances, have been around for a very, very long time. People have been playing simple dice games for thousands of years, even before paper and pencils were invented!

Pig is a fantastic game because it teaches you about making smart choices. You have to decide if you want to keep rolling to get more points, or if it's safer to stop and keep the points you already have. It’s a bit like deciding if you want to eat one yummy cookie now or wait for a whole box later, but with dice! Teachers even use Pig to help kids learn about how likely things are to happen.

Playing Pig is easy peasy! One player rolls a single die. If they roll a 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, they add that number to their score for that turn.

They can then choose to roll again or stop. If they stop, their points for that turn are added to their total score. But if they roll a 1, POOF!

All the points they got that turn are gone, and their turn ends. The first player to reach a set score, like 100 points, wins the game!
