Fun Fact
The Parliament building is where Poland's most important decisions are made!

Where the Big Decisions Happen!

In Poland, there's a special building in the city of Warsaw where grown-ups go to talk about making the country a better place. This building is called the Parliament! It's like the biggest classroom in Poland, but instead of learning math, people here learn how to help everyone.

The Parliament has two main parts, like two teams working together. One team is called the Sejm, and the other is called the Senate. They both meet in the same big building!

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

The Sejm team has 460 members, which is a LOT of people! That's more people than you'd find on a whole playground. The Senate team is a bit smaller, with 100 members.

To make a new rule, a paper called a bill has to be liked by both teams. If the Senate says no, the Sejm can sometimes say, 'We still think it's a good idea!' and make it a law anyway. It’s like a game where everyone has to agree, but sometimes one team can convince the other.

Super Special Meetings!

Sometimes, everyone from the Sejm and the Senate gets together in one giant room. This super-meeting is called the National Assembly. It's usually for very important and happy events, like when Poland gets a new President.

Imagine everyone in your school coming together for a special assembly! But if something really serious happens, like if the President does something wrong, the National Assembly can have big powers to deal with it.

Who's in Charge?

The people in the Sejm and the Senate are chosen by everyone in Poland who is old enough to vote. They usually get chosen every four years, like a special election day. The Sejm is the bigger team, and the Law and Justice party has the most people there.

The Senate is the smaller team, and the Civic Coalition has the most people there. Everyone sits in special chairs and uses buttons to vote on important ideas!
