Where the Five Rivers Meet!

The Panjnad River is like a super-highway for water in Pakistan! It’s formed when five big rivers, called the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej, all decide to join together. Think of it like five friends holding hands to make one giant team! This amazing river flows through a special part of Pakistan called Punjab, which means 'Land of Five Rivers'. It’s a very important place for water!

A River's Journey

The Panjnad River doesn't just appear out of nowhere. First, the Jhelum and Ravi rivers flow into the Chenab River. Then, the Beas River joins the Sutlej River.

Finally, the mighty Chenab and Sutlej rivers come together to create the Panjnad River! After a short trip of about 44 miles, it meets an even bigger river called the Indus River. The Indus River then carries all this water all the way to the big, salty ocean!

Water for Everyone!

This river is super helpful! There’s a special dam built on the Panjnad River called a barrage. This barrage helps send water through big channels to farms in the Punjab and Sindh areas. This means farmers can grow yummy fruits and vegetables. It’s like the river is giving a big drink to the land so plants can grow big and strong. Without this water, it would be much harder to grow food!

More Than Five Rivers!

Did you know that when the Panjnad River joins the Indus River, the Indus River is then carrying the water of SEVEN rivers? That’s because it already had the Indus, the five rivers that make up the Panjnad, and another river called the Kabul River! So, the Indus River becomes a super-duper mega-river, carrying the water from seven different places. That’s a lot of water flowing to the ocean!
