Key Facts
Meet the Fluffy Friends!
Sheep, or 'ovejas' in Spanish, are fuzzy farm animals that are loved all around the world! They have soft, woolly coats that keep them warm. These gentle creatures come in many colors, from white and black to brown and gray.
Sheep are herbivores, which means they munch on plants like grass and clover. They love to spend their days grazing in green pastures, often in big groups called flocks. It’s like a big, woolly party all day long!
Where Do Sheep Live?
Sheep are super adaptable and can live in lots of different places! You can find them on farms in almost every country, from snowy mountains to warm, sunny fields. They are especially happy in places with lots of grass to eat.
Their thick woolly coats help them stay warm in cold weather, and they can also handle warmer climates. So, whether it's a chilly morning or a warm afternoon, sheep are usually comfortable munching away.
Why We Love Sheep's Wool!
The most amazing thing about sheep is their wool! It grows all year round and is like a cozy sweater for them. Farmers carefully shear (cut) the wool off, and then it’s cleaned and spun into yarn.
This yarn is used to make all sorts of warm and wonderful things, like sweaters, hats, scarves, and blankets! Wool is special because it can keep you warm even when it’s wet. Isn't that neat?
Sheep give us so much comfort!
Sheep Babies are Cute!
Baby sheep are called lambs, and they are incredibly adorable! Lambs are born with soft, fluffy wool, just like their moms and dads. They are very playful and love to jump and run around.
A mother sheep usually has one or two lambs at a time. The lambs stay close to their mothers, drinking milk and learning how to find the best grass. Watching lambs play in a field is one of the happiest sights on a farm!
