Orit Abramovitz

Imagine jumping over a tall playground slide! That's what Orit Abramovitz did, but even higher! She's a super athlete from Israel who is really good at high jumping. High jumping is a sport where athletes run and then leap over a bar. The person who jumps the highest without knocking the bar down wins!

Orit won a shiny gold medal in a big competition called the Asian Athletics Championships. She jumped 1.68 meters, which is taller than many grown-ups! Later, she won another gold medal at the Asian Games. She jumped an amazing 1.78 meters! That's almost as tall as a small car!

Because Orit was such a fantastic athlete and inspired so many people, she received a very special award. In 2010, she was given an honorary medal by a group called the Knesset. This medal was to say 'thank you' for all her hard work and amazing achievements in sports. It shows how important she is!
