The Day the World Changed: October 7 Attacks

On a special holiday called Simchat Torah, something unexpected happened. People from Gaza, a place near Israel, came into Israel. They launched lots of rockets, like fireworks but much louder and scarier. Some people even flew in on paragliders, which are like big kites you can ride! It was a very surprising and upsetting day for many people.

The main group that organized these actions was called Hamas. They are a Palestinian militant group. They worked with other groups too. They crossed a special fence that separates Gaza from Israel.
