Where Are These Giant Hills?

The Notre Dame Mountains are like a big, bumpy line of hills that start in a place called the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada. They stretch all the way to Vermont in the United States, where they meet the Green Mountains. Think of them as a long, winding path that follows the edge of a huge river valley called the St.

Lawrence River. They even hug the border between Canada and the United States for a bit!

Super Old and Worn Down!

These mountains are really, really old. They've been around for so long that they've been smoothed down by wind and rain, like a favorite toy that's been played with a lot. They aren't super tall and pointy like some younger mountains. Instead, they are more like rolling hills, with an average height of about 600 meters. That's like stacking about 150 school buses on top of each other!

A Home for Nature!

Even though they are worn down, the Notre Dame Mountains are a special home for lots of plants and animals. The land here is shaped by the mountains, creating different places for things to live. The rivers that start in these mountains flow down to the big St. Lawrence River, bringing fresh water to the land. It's a beautiful part of the world!

Mountains with a Past!

These mountains have seen a lot of history! They are part of a much bigger mountain family called the Appalachian Mountains. Over thousands and thousands of years, the land has changed, and people have lived near these mountains. They are a natural wonder that has been around for ages, watching over the land and rivers.
