Fun Fact
This war was so long, it was almost as long as you've been alive!

Why All the Fuss?

Long ago, a very powerful king named Louis XIV of France wanted to make his country even bigger and stronger. He kept trying to grab more land, like a kid taking extra cookies! Other countries, like the Netherlands and England, got worried.

They thought, "Whoa, he's getting too big for his boots!" So, they decided to team up to stop him. This big team was called the Grand Alliance. It was like a playground superpower showdown!

The Big Fight Begins!

In 1688, King Louis decided to march his army across a big river called the Rhine. He wanted even more land! But the other countries were ready. They fought battles all over Europe. Imagine a huge game of hide-and-seek and tag all at once! The fighting happened in places like Ireland and even far away in North America. It was a long, long time for everyone to be upset and fighting.

Who Was Who?

The main person trying to stop King Louis was William of Orange. He was a brave leader who became the King of England. He was super important because he got England to join the team against France.

King Louis XIV was the French king who wanted more power. He was like the biggest kid on the playground, trying to boss everyone around. There were many other kings and leaders too, all playing their part in this big story.

Did Anyone Win?

After nine long years of fighting, everyone was tired and running out of money, like when you've played too long and need a nap! They finally made a peace agreement. France got to keep some land it had taken, but it had to give back other places.

King Louis also had to say that William was the real King of England. It wasn't a clear win for anyone, more like a draw where everyone agreed to stop fighting for a while.
