Where is This Giant Place?

Imagine a super-duper big playground that's part of Hong Kong! That's the New Territories. It's the biggest area of Hong Kong, like a giant slice of pizza. It has tall mountains, green hills, and over 200 islands, some as small as a tiny toy boat and others as big as a whole town! It's a place with lots of nature to explore, from rivers to the sea.

A Long, Long Time Ago...

A super long time ago, this land was part of China. Then, a long time ago, a country called the United Kingdom wanted to use this land for 99 years. That's like having a toy for almost your whole life! After the 99 years were up, the land went back to China. It's like borrowing a book from the library and then giving it back when you're done.

So Many People Live Here!

Even though it's big, lots and lots of people call the New Territories home. It's like having a huge school with almost half of all the kids in Hong Kong going there! There are so many people living close together that it feels like a very busy city, but there are also quiet places with farms and nature.

What Do People Do Here?

People in the New Territories do all sorts of things! Some people work in busy offices, like grown-ups do at your parents' jobs. Others work with nature, maybe on farms growing yummy food or taking care of the beautiful parks. There are also many schools where kids learn amazing things every day, just like you!
