When Babylon Ruled the World!

Long, long ago, there was a super-duper powerful kingdom called the Neo-Babylonian Empire. It was like the last big boss of ancient Mesopotamia! It started when a king named Nabopolassar became the King of Babylon in 626 BC.

This empire was super strong, especially after they helped defeat the mighty Assyrian Empire. They ruled for nearly a century, building amazing things and making their capital city, Babylon, shine like never before!

Meet the Super Kings!

The most famous king of this empire was Nebuchadnezzar II. He was like a superhero king who did amazing things! He built huge, beautiful buildings in Babylon, making it one of the most spectacular cities ever.

He also led his army on big adventures, like going to war in Judah. The Bible tells stories about him, sometimes making him sound a bit scary, but his people thought he was the best king ever during a golden age!

Babylon's Big Makeover!

The Neo-Babylonian kings loved to build! They made Babylon into a dazzling city with massive walls and incredible temples. They even brought back old ideas from thousands of years before, mixing them with new ones.

It was like giving their city a giant, super-fancy makeover! This made their empire rich and strong, and people from all over wanted to be part of it. It was a time of growth and amazing art.

How the Empire Ended

Even the biggest empires don't last forever. The Neo-Babylonian Empire ended when a new powerful group, the Persians, came along. Their king, Cyrus the Great, conquered Babylon in 539 BC.

He made it seem like he was saving the city by bringing back their favorite god. Even though Babylon lost its own kings, the city stayed important and people still remembered its amazing stories for a very, very long time.
