Mexico's Big Team!

The National Action Party, or PAN for short, is like a big team in Mexico that helps make important decisions for the country. It's one of the main teams that people choose when they vote. This party started a long, long time ago, in 1939, which is even before your grandparents were born! It's been around for a while, helping to shape Mexico.

When the PAN Team Won Big!

Guess what? In the year 2000, the PAN team helped their player, Vicente Fox, become the president of Mexico! This was super special because it was the first time in 71 years that someone from outside the usual ruling team became president. Then, six years later, another PAN player named Felipe Calderón also became president. It was like winning the championship two times in a row!

More Than Just Presidents!

The PAN team doesn't just choose presidents. They also have members who work in the big meeting rooms where laws are made. In one big election, they won over 200 spots in the Chamber of Deputies, which is like a giant classroom with 500 seats! They also have members in the Senate, which is another important place for making decisions. They are a big part of how Mexico is run.

What Happens to the Players?

Even though Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón were PAN presidents, they don't play for the PAN team anymore. It's a bit like a star player deciding to join a different team or start their own club! This shows that even within big teams, people can have different ideas and make new paths. The members of the PAN team are often called 'panistas'.
