Mwai Kibaki

Mwai Kibaki was a very important person in Kenya, a country in Africa. He was like a president, the top leader, for a long time! He was born a long, long time ago, in 1931.

Imagine being in charge of a whole country, making big decisions to help everyone. That's what President Kibaki did for Kenya for over 10 years, from 2002 to 2013. He also worked in the government for many, many years before that, helping out in different jobs.

Before becoming president, Mwai Kibaki had many important jobs. He was the Vice-President, which is like the president's second-in-command, for a whole decade! That's as long as you've been alive, maybe even longer!

He also helped manage the country's money as the Finance Minister. That means he decided how money was spent to build roads, schools, and hospitals. He even helped people stay safe as the Home Affairs Minister.

He was a Member of Parliament for an amazing 50 years, which is longer than your grandparents have been alive!

As President, Mwai Kibaki wanted to make Kenya a better place. He worked on big projects to help the country grow. He believed in making sure everyone could go to school.
