Mungo Park was a super curious explorer from Scotland who loved adventures! He was born a long, long time ago, in 1771. His biggest dream was to explore the amazing rivers of Africa. He wanted to be the first person to map out the mighty Niger River, which is like a super long, winding snake of water. He was like a detective, trying to solve the mystery of where this huge river went!

Sailing into the Unknown!

Mungo Park went on two big trips to Africa. On his first trip, he sailed up the Niger River. It was a very long journey, and he saw many new places and met different people.

He wrote a book about his travels that lots of people loved to read. It was like a thrilling adventure story! He even thought the Niger and another big river, the Congo, were the same, but later people found out they were different.

Why Mungo Park is Super Important!

Mungo Park was one of the very first European explorers to travel deep into the heart of Africa. He showed everyone in Europe what this amazing continent looked like.
