Muhammad Yunus was born in a country called Bangladesh. A long, long time ago, there was a big problem with people not having enough food. This made Muhammad Yunus want to help.

He started by lending his own money to a few people so they could buy things for their businesses. When he saw how well this worked, he started a special bank called Grameen Bank. This bank was like a superhero headquarters for helping poor people get loans to start businesses.

It grew and grew, helping thousands!

How does this work? Well, imagine you want to buy some seeds to grow vegetables, but you don't have any money. Grameen Bank might lend you just enough money to buy those seeds.

You grow the vegetables, sell them, and then you can pay back the small loan. Then, you can borrow a little more to buy even more seeds or maybe a small cart to sell your veggies! It's like a snowball rolling down a hill, getting bigger and bigger.

This helps people buy food, send their kids to school, and build better homes.

Because Muhammad Yunus had such a brilliant and kind idea that helped so many people, he won a very special award called the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s like winning the biggest gold star in the world for making peace and helping others! He was the first person from his country, Bangladesh, to ever win it.

This award showed everyone that helping people help themselves is one of the most important things we can do. His idea has now helped people in almost every country!
