Who Was This King?
Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a king named Muhammad bin Tughluq. He was the ruler of Delhi, a big and important city. He was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1290! That's even before your grandparents were born! He became king in 1325 and ruled for many years until 1351. He was the eldest son of the king who started his family's rule, called the Tughlaq dynasty.
A Brave Young Prince!
Even when he was a young prince named Jauna Khan, he was very brave. His dad, the king, sent him on a mission to fight in a faraway place called the Deccan Plateau. He was so good at fighting that he helped win a big battle and capture a city called Warangal. This victory was so important that it ended the rule of another king, King Prataparudra. So, even as a prince, he was a hero!
A King Who Loved Books and Languages!
Muhammad bin Tughluq wasn't just a warrior; he was also super smart! He loved learning about medicine and could speak many different languages. Imagine being able to talk in Persian, Hindavi, Arabic, Sanskrit, and Turkic!
A famous traveler named Ibn Battuta even came to his court and wrote about how interesting it was. He was known as the 'Wisest Fool' because he was so clever, but sometimes made decisions that seemed a bit strange.
Why He's Remembered Today
Muhammad bin Tughluq is remembered because he was a king with many talents. He was a strong leader who fought battles and expanded his kingdom. He was also a scholar who loved knowledge and languages. Even though some of his ideas were a bit unusual, his reign was a very important time in the history of Delhi. He showed that a ruler could be both a powerful warrior and a curious learner.
