Mérida is a city tucked away in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. It sits on a flat spot, like a table, high up in a valley. This valley has a river called the Chama River running through it.

The city is about as high up as a very tall building, around 5,200 feet! That's like stacking 50 school buses on top of each other. It's a cool place to live because the air is fresh and the views are amazing.

Mérida is famous for having the longest and highest cable car in the whole world! It's called Mukumbarí and it takes you way up the mountains for incredible views. You can see Pico Bolívar, the tallest mountain in Venezuela, which is super snowy and looks like a giant white hat.

Mérida is also a busy place with lots of students because it has a big university. People love to visit because it's beautiful and exciting.
