Where the Giants Live!

Imagine a home way, way up high in mountains that are volcanoes! That's where mountain gorillas live. They like it cool and misty.

There are two special places they call home. One is in a group of volcanoes called the Virunga Mountains, in countries like Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The other group lives in a super dense forest in Uganda called Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

It's like their own secret jungle hideaway!

Meet the Gorilla Family!

Mountain gorillas are HUGE! They are much bigger than you or even your parents. An adult male can weigh as much as 10 grown-ups!

They have thick, dark fur to keep them warm in their chilly mountain homes. They love to eat yummy leaves, stems, and sometimes fruit. They spend most of their day munching on plants and playing with their families.

They are very gentle giants, even though they look so strong.

Gorilla Superpowers!

Did you know mountain gorillas are super smart? They can use tools, like sticks to help them get food! They live in families called 'troops' and have a leader, usually a big male called a silverback. These families stick together and protect each other. It's amazing how they communicate with grunts, hoots, and even by beating their chests! They are also very important for their forest homes.

Why We Need to Help!

Sadly, there aren't many mountain gorillas left, only about 1060! They are endangered, which means they need our help to stay safe. People are working hard to protect their homes and make sure they have plenty of food and are safe from harm. By learning about them and caring for their forests, we can help these amazing gorillas continue to live in their mountain homes for a long, long time.
