Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, or MGM for short, is a super famous company that makes movies and TV shows! It started a very, very long time ago, in 1924. That's even before your grandparents were born! MGM is like a giant factory for stories that come to life on your screen, filled with amazing actors and exciting adventures.

MGM wasn't always one big company. It was made by squishing three smaller movie companies together: Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Pictures. The boss, Marcus Loew, wanted to make the best movies with the most stars. Their slogan was 'more stars than there are in heaven'! They even owned movie theaters so people could watch their amazing films.

MGM was known for having tons of famous actors. They made lots of musicals with singing and dancing, and they won many shiny gold statues called Academy Awards. Their most famous movies were often about a character named Ben Hur. For a long time, MGM was the most important movie-making place in Hollywood, creating dreams for everyone to see.

MGM didn't just stick to movies. They also started making TV shows! Over the years, different people owned MGM, and it changed a lot. Sometimes it made fewer movies to focus on other things, like hotels! Now, a big company called Amazon owns MGM, and they still make awesome movies and shows like James Bond and Rocky.
