Imagine a brilliant writer and a brave freedom fighter all rolled into one! That was Maulana Azad. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1888.

He loved to write stories and poems, and he also cared a lot about his country, India. He became a very important leader who helped India become a free country and then became its very first Minister of Education. That means he was in charge of making sure everyone could go to school!

Maulana Azad was like a superhero for India's independence. He wrote exciting articles in his newspaper to tell people why India should be free from the British. He even met Mahatma Gandhi, another famous leader who believed in peaceful ways to protest.

Together, they worked hard to get India its own rules. He was so good at leading that he became the youngest person ever to be the president of a big group called the Indian National Congress!

One of Maulana Azad's biggest dreams was for all children in India to get a good education. He helped start a special university called Jamia Millia Islamia. He wanted it to be a place of learning that didn't need help from the British government.
