Once upon a time, there was a princess named Marie Louise. She was born a long, long time ago, in 1662. Her dad was a Duke, which is like a very important prince, and her mom was a Princess too! Marie Louise was part of a royal family in France, but her life took her to a different country to become a queen. She was a bit like a character from a fairy tale, but her story was real!
A Royal Wedding Far Away!
When Marie Louise grew up, she had a very important job to do. She was going to marry the King of Spain! This was a big deal because it connected two royal families. She traveled to Spain and became their queen in 1679. Imagine moving to a new country and being in charge of so many things! She was the first wife of King Charles II, and they were the King and Queen of Spain together.
Queen of Spain!
As Queen of Spain, Marie Louise lived in a grand palace. She was married to King Charles II, who was also quite young. Being queen meant she was a very important person in the country. She lived in Spain for about ten years as queen. Sadly, her time as queen was cut short. She passed away in 1689 when she was only 26 years old. That's younger than many grown-ups you know!
A Sad Ending to a Royal Story
The doctors at the time thought that Marie Louise got very sick because of something called appendicitis. It's a problem inside your tummy that can make you feel very poorly. Even though she was a queen, she couldn't be saved. Her life as a queen was short, but she was remembered as a princess and queen from a famous royal family. Her story reminds us that even royal people can have sad endings.
