He was so popular that many people still think he was the best Mexican president of the 1900s!

Meet President Lázaro!

Lázaro Cárdenas was a very important president of Mexico a long, long time ago, from 1934 to 1940. He was like a superhero for the people! Before becoming president, he was a brave general in a big fight called the Mexican Revolution.

He came from a regular family, not a super rich one, and he always cared about the everyday people of Mexico. He made big changes that helped lots of families get their own land to farm.

A President Who Shared!

One of the most amazing things Lázaro Cárdenas did was share the country's oil! Imagine if all the toys in a toy store suddenly belonged to everyone. That's kind of what he did with the oil.

He decided that the oil from Mexico should belong to the Mexican people, not just big companies from other countries. He created a company called Pemex to manage it all. This was a super brave move that made Mexico stronger!

Giving Land to Farmers!

Lázaro Cárdenas believed that everyone should have a chance to grow food and make a living. So, he took big pieces of land that belonged to only a few rich people and divided them up. He gave these lands, called 'ejidos', to farmers so they could work them and feed their families.

This was like giving each farmer their own special garden plot to take care of. It helped many families have food and a way to earn money.

Making Schools and Helping Others!

Besides sharing oil and land, President Cárdenas also wanted to make sure kids could go to school and learn. He helped start new schools, like the National Polytechnic Institute, which is a place where people can learn all sorts of cool things, like how to build and invent! He also welcomed people who needed a safe place to go, like those escaping difficult times in other countries.

He was a president who cared about everyone.
