Meet the Giant Castle!

The Louvre Palace is a super big building in Paris, France, right by a river called the Seine. It's not just one building, but many all joined together! It started a very, very long time ago as a castle to keep the city safe.

Think of it like a giant LEGO castle, but made of stone and much older. It has so many rooms and hallways, it’s hard to imagine! Today, most of it is a famous museum filled with incredible treasures.

From Castle to Palace to Museum!

Once upon a time, the Louvre was a strong castle, like a fortress, built to protect Paris. Later, kings and queens decided it would be a great place to live! They made it fancier, turning it into a beautiful palace.

For many years, it was a royal home. Then, a really cool thing happened: it became a museum for everyone to visit and see amazing art. It opened as a museum way back in 1793, which is older than your grandparents' grandparents!

Why is the Louvre So Special?

The Louvre is special because it's like a time machine! It shows us how people lived and what they thought was beautiful hundreds of years ago. It holds famous paintings, like the Mona Lisa, and ancient statues. It’s a place where history and art come alive. Imagine seeing art that's older than dinosaurs (well, almost!). It's a place that makes people from all over the world say WOW!

A Glass Pyramid in a Courtyard!

One of the most surprising things about the Louvre is a giant glass pyramid right in the middle of its courtyard! It looks like something from outer space, but it’s actually a modern entrance to the museum. It was added not too long ago, in the late 1900s. This pyramid helps lots of people get inside to see all the amazing art. It’s a mix of old and new, which makes the Louvre even more exciting!
