Ghana's New Parliament Builders!

In Ghana, there are special people called Members of Parliament, or MPs for short. They are like the builders of Ghana's rules! In 2024, a new group of these builders was chosen.

They will work in the Parliament building to make decisions for everyone. There are 276 spots for these builders, and each spot is for a different part of Ghana called a constituency. It's like having 276 special neighborhoods that get to pick their own builder!

This year, there's a super exciting new spot for an MP! It's called the Guan constituency, and it's the very first time this spot is being filled. Think of it like adding a new room to a house!

This means there are now 276 places for MPs. Lots of people wanted to be builders, with 801 candidates trying their best. Some are new faces, and some have done this job before.

It's like a big contest to see who can help the most!

Guess what? Some of the new MPs are actually famous entertainers! This is super cool because it means people from different walks of life can help lead the country.

Imagine your favorite singer or actor helping to make important decisions! Five entertainers are joining the Parliament, and one of them is an actress named Dzifa Gomashie. It shows that anyone with good ideas can become an MP and help shape Ghana's future.

After the votes were counted, a lot of the new MPs were ready to start. Most of them are new to this job, while others are returning to build again. The Parliament building is where they all meet.

They have to pick a special leader called a Speaker to guide them. Sometimes, there are disagreements about who won, and these get sorted out. The new Parliament officially started on January 7, 2025, ready to get to work!
