Black Sabbath & Heaven & Hell: The Rock Band Superstars!
Key Facts
Meet the Rock Legends!
Imagine a band so awesome, they changed their name to sound super powerful! That's Black Sabbath! They started in England way back in 1968.
The first band members were Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. They played music so loud and heavy, it was like a thunderclap! Later, some of these same musicians, plus the amazing Ronnie James Dio, formed another supergroup called Heaven & Hell.
They played the same kind of epic music!
From Earth to Black Sabbath!
Did you know Black Sabbath wasn't always called Black Sabbath? They started out as a band called Earth! That's like a planet!
But they wanted a name that sounded more mysterious and powerful, so in 1969, they became Black Sabbath. For a long time, the same four friends played together. But sometimes, band members change, like when a player joins a new team.
Tony Iommi was the only one who was in Black Sabbath for the whole, long ride!
WOW! The Music That Shakes the World!
Black Sabbath's music is so important because it helped invent a whole new kind of music called heavy metal! It's like they built the first roller coaster for sound! Their songs are often about big ideas and can sound really dramatic.
Heaven & Hell was special because it brought together some of the best singers and musicians from different times in Black Sabbath's story. They made one amazing album together before Ronnie James Dio sadly passed away.
Who Played What?
Think of a band like a team of superheroes, each with their own special power. Ozzy Osbourne was the singer with a voice like a roaring lion! Tony Iommi was the guitar wizard, making his guitar sound like a dragon breathing fire.
Geezer Butler was the bass player, laying down a super strong beat, and Bill Ward was the drummer, hitting his drums like a giant stomping! Ronnie James Dio was another incredible singer who joined later and had a voice that could soar like an eagle!
