Where is Limburg?

Limburg is like the toe of the Netherlands shoe, way down south! It's a super interesting spot because it touches not one, not two, but THREE other countries: Germany and Belgium. To its north is another part of the Netherlands called Gelderland, and to its west is North Brabant.

The Meuse River even helps draw some of the border with Belgium. It's a place where you can almost hop between countries!

Tiny Hills and Big Cities!

Limburg isn't flat like some other parts of the Netherlands. It has gentle hills, especially in the south, which is pretty special. The highest point is called Vaalserberg, and it's where the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium all meet – like a giant playground corner!

Even though it's a smaller part of the Netherlands, lots of people live here, especially in big cities like Maastricht, which is the capital. That's more people than live in many small countries!

A Place for Everyone!

About 1.1 million people call Limburg home. That's like filling up a whole stadium over a million times! The capital city, Maastricht, is a very old and beautiful place.

Other busy towns include Venlo, Sittard-Geleen, and Heerlen. Many people live in the southern part of Limburg, which is a bit like having a big party in one corner of the room, even though the room is quite large. It's a busy and friendly place to live.

What Makes Limburg Special?

Limburg has its own special way of talking, a bit different from other parts of the Netherlands. It's a place with a long history, and you can see that in its old buildings and traditions. People here work in all sorts of jobs, from farming to making things in factories. It's a province that's proud of its unique spot in Europe and its friendly people.
