Who Were the Helpers?

The soldiers who arrived were part of the Soviet Red Army. They were marching through the area and discovered Auschwitz. When they got there, they found about 7,000 people who had been left behind. These soldiers were shocked by what they saw and immediately tried to help the survivors. They brought them food and comfort.

What Was Auschwitz?

Auschwitz was a place where over a million people were hurt and even killed. The Nazis had a cruel plan to get rid of Jewish people. It was a very dark time. The soldiers who found it were amazed that such horrible things had happened. It was like finding a secret, scary room in a house.

A Day to Remember
