Who is Leonard Peltier?

A Big Event on Pine Ridge

One very important day happened on June 26, 1975, on a place called the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Something very serious happened there, and Leonard Peltier was involved. Because of this event, he was sent to prison for a very long time. He was sentenced to two life sentences, which is a very, very long time to be away from home. It's like being in school for your whole life, and then some!

After many, many years, something wonderful happened! On February 18, 2025, Leonard Peltier was finally released from prison. He was able to go home to his family and his community. He was sent to live on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation. This was a very happy day for him and for everyone who believed in him and his cause.
